Being a woman in STEM often comes with unique challenges. In order to encourage women to pursue and continue majors and careers in STEM, it is important to provide them with resources and advice to navigate the STEM world. Check out these resources for women in STEM that offer help from networking, to funding, and much more.

1. STEMinist
STEMinist’s mission is to increase the visibility of women in STEM, promote and elevate the perspective of women in these traditionally underrepresented fields, encourage younger women and girls to pursue careers in STEM, and capture a social media snapshot of what’s trending for women in STEM. STEMinist publishes news, trends, and research about women in STEM through profiles, articles, and networking opportunities.

2. ADVANCE
The mission of the National Science Foundation's (NSF) ADVANCE program is to increase the representation and advancement of women in academic science, engineering careers, technology, and mathematics in order to contribute to the development of a more diverse STEM workforce. The ADVANCE program offers the opportunity for women in STEM to apply for awards, grants, and fellowships intended to further women’s presence in STEM.


3. Women in Math Project
The Women in Math Project was created by Marie A. Vitulli, an MAA member from the University of Oregon, with the mission of providing comprehensive resources and information for and about women in math. The website features a collection of research and resources regarding women and math. Conferences and events for women in math are provided as well as biographies of inspirational women in math who helped shape the field. A list of grants, scholarships, fellowships, and jobs are provided for women seeking to further their path in mathematics.


4. MentorNet
MentorNet’s mission is to provide all STEM students in the United States, not just women, with access to effective mentors in a vibrant community committed to student success. MentorNet connects established professionals in STEM fields with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. students to help them navigate different STEM fields. MentorNet also delivers evidence-based programs that address the critical issues impacting STEM student success. According to MentorNet, the mentees involved in this program have double the chance of graduating from college and entering a STEM career.
